"Not that I have already
obtained all this,
or have already been
made perfect, but I press
on to take hold of that for
which Christ Jesus
took hold of me.
Brothers, I do not
consider myself yet
to have taken hold
of it. But one thing
I do: Forgetting what
is behind and straining
toward what is ahead,
I press on toward the
goal to win the prize
for which God has called
me heavenward in
Christ Jesus.

    Cash savings!

just got my bill from bookdepository.co.uk

i may sound like a cheapskate aunty in this post, but in a world where artbooks are so expensive and good books are hard to find....... you should really use this webbie! T-T

my textbook (the animator's survival kit) cost only $38.56 SGD! in our school popular bookshop (which is already supposed to be selling at special price), they sell it for $55.00 SGD.

    bookdepository.co.uk = 38.56
    popularNTU = 55.00 (after discount)

    cash savings = almost 17 bucks! $$$

of course it has quite abit (just abit, prices of the books there are generally alot cheaper...) to do with the lower exchange rate of the pound now, so calculate properly haha.

so if you're interested, once again i am promoting this uk website to you! i tink it'll be especially useful for people in ADM.. imported art-related books are damn expensive in singapore!

    visit bookdepository.co.uk at....

    http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/WEBSITE/WWW/WEBPAGES/homepage.php

they have really good service too - if you suspect something wrong with your delivery, just email them and they will gladly send u a replacement..

delivery time is approximately one to two weeks, so far i've ordered 3 books - the longest time taken for one book was 2 weeks, shortest is one week.. but they delivery it straight to your house so can save me my bus trip money and the tiredness of book hunting!

they have many other books that can't be found in singapore too... all kinds of books, i also found some christian classic and good stuff there!

    what are you waiting for!!!!!

    bye bye recess!

    recess time flew!

i guess it was a good time, apart from the work, had time to enjoy drawing and sketched alot more than usual! :D a few silly sketches put together below... am very happy with my purple and orange 0.7 mechanical pencil! AWESOME! p.s. i have no idea how to darken it in photoshop haha.

    (from left to right)
silly owl, zai owl, horse with mouth opened,
crab with attitude, funky bird, stupid looking lama,
    and a shoe with attitude!

AAH is still a pain, i just can't seem to get the presentation started ... T-T but the essay is making head-way! YES! shall pia tonight and pray that everything works out...

watched tarzan on dvd again yesterday, the animation is still so awesome!

2d animation piling up! hopefully can finish AAH soon ! then i can go "ahhhhhhhhhh..finally finished!" instead of "ahhhhh..ta buleh tahan!" +0+

very happy to get the bursary... the extra finances will be very useful....

what can we give that You have not given..
what do we have that is not already Yours...

    need a break!! :D

    --
    drew hard on monday! :D

reached school at 130pm, drew till 6 pm, dinner, 3d modelling lesson till 1030pm, then went back to drawing lab to draw till 4am! haha. BUT. not finished yet leh. quite SIAN!

but pizza 'party' was fun - ordered one large Hawaiian pizza (cos there's just 4 of us) hehe and made the room smelly with garlic breath! yikes! :D anyways, there were still animators awake at 4am! crazy stuff! lol.

sleeping on 3 movable chairs is an art. haha.

    ---

woke up to meet Ben for breakfast (he has to do his lab also! poor thing!) and found out that many many ADMers are still in school during the 'recess'. haha.

nice to meet jp and his film friend for lunch, if not i will be eating in the animation lab alone! yikes! cui cui cui cui cui.

couldnt stand drawing anymore after lunch and was too sleepy, so went to research for my written assignment in ADM library. and of course i borrowed alot of nice looking books to look at during the holidays - which i am really enjoying now (!!!!) and i also read some illustration books (which i took a few photos of if i needed inspiration in the future haha). very cool!

    ---
one of the books i borrowed was "Tarzan chronicles" - the journal of the whole process of making tarzan (it's incredible!) and i was so fascinated i went to watch Tarzan in the library immediately while waiting for Ben , and wow, it's great to see it again! the animation was awesome, and tarzan is so handsome. haha. up to this point in my life i've never realised how LOOONNNNG the credits were for animation films, but boy, it was really long! each character in the movie has a lead animator, and a group of animators under him, which excludes coloring and rendering...! just for information's sake.. a 52 sec part of the movie of Jane took 6 weeks to complete! T-T that is just 52 seconds of JANE. haha but was great, very fun and inspiring, feels like a nice thing to do for a recess! i havent felt this relaxed (but cui after the drawing) in a long while! Glen Keane - chief animator for the character Tarzan is an amazing guy seriously. wicked sick!.

anyways, the point is, it's always good to get fascinated, inspired and excited to continuously respark that interest in what you're doing. it's so important!!! i can't imagine drawing for umpteen hours just to slog it through and not liking what i did or what i am doing or what i will do in the future. it will be such a waste of my time and paper and i can go on...! and animation is a crazy thing to slog for! but of course i dont not strive to live for it. haha.

now, in contrast.... i am slogging for Asian art history. haha. it's been a pain, and i sincerely believe that it WILL continue to be a pain until i am done with it!. pfft! written assignment and presentation - currently have no inspiration at all, there's a great resistance in me to do it! how now brown cow . mooooooo.
    --

anyways, just to share my happy readings with anyone who's interested-

    ++"Tarzan Chronicles" ++
is definitely a must read if you're an animator, concept artist, draftsmen, blabla..

    ++"Shag" by Josh agle++
am currently reading an illustration book by josh agle. i really like his work, very colorful, stylish, chic maybe? they described it as "retro-cool" in the book. you can even visit his webbie here:

http://www.shag.com/ yea, his stuff are definitely cool... i tink he's an illustrator, not too sure though- just happened to be attracted by the colors of his book while i was browsing through the ADM books . hehe. spunky!

    ++ "experiencing God's presence" by Matthew Henry++
yea, currently reading matthew henry's "experiencing God's presence" also, it's a really good book, quite classic one i tink :) very deep..

maybe more books i've bought which i've not read yet T-T.

    ---

thank Cynthia for blessing me with 150dollars for my cambodia trip ( i didnt even ask her for it T-T ) ,and thank God for answering prayer so immediately! i tink i can buy my tickets by early october.. and i went to look at the website and viola! the day that i'm leaving- 1st dec, is so much cheaper then the day before and after it! by about half price somemore! so i thank God that yea i'm really going and i know He's making ways for me to go despite of the circumstances..so i'm thankful!

but i'm struggling now- tiredness..dryness? but i'll cling on to my only Hope cos apart from You i know there is no hope...! so keep me and draw me my Lord....

    ---

to orthodontist and NLB for AAH research tomoro!

    draw me- Keith green

Draw me, oh, draw me, please draw me, my Jesus.
Into your presence, where I cannot lie.
My soul is so thirsty, I cannot endure it.
And if I can't get closer, I surely will die.

Take me, oh take me, please take me, my Jesus.
Quickly, before I forget that I'm lost.
For so many times, my mind has deceived me,
That I really don't have to carry the cross.

I just need to know how to pray.
My wicked desires block the way,
Sometimes I have grieved you away,
I don't want to do that today.

Help me, oh help me, please help me my Jesus.
Save me from sins that I thought were all gone.
Kill me with kindness, and break through my blindness.
I know till I'm dead, I can never live on.

this term has been a crazy busy term, and now it's finally the recess! was actually looking forward to the fact that i can get some rest, but now with the amount of work i'm just happy that i dont have to travel to school for 3 days next week! hahah :D

    --

the past week was crazy busy with crazy deadlines and Singapore Studies test on the gar-ment and of course my favorite VME which we always mug for. i kept sleeping everywhere i went, i feel like a sloth! -__- forgot to bring my phone on Wednesday, and lost my phone yesterday (first time in history!) anyways, i'm extending my thanks to the kind ADMer who found my handphone in the open lab and i'm sorry i really donno who you are but many thanks!

    --

went to substation on thursday to for some short film screening thingy, and Wesley's film was really nice, i really like the whimsicality of his films, very distinct. The rest were quite boring for me. and the sole of my shoes came out while walking to substation! I have something with shoes.hahah.

    ---

not to miss saying "happy 5 years! " (in summation) to Ben :) times flies! looking forward to more years and decades to come, God-willing :) much love! :D

    <3<3<3

    ---

happy to also know that David and his family have reached Texas safely..

    ---

just received news that Chris and Lingling's child, who was diagnosed with 2 cis lumps in his brain while he was still in the womb, have been totally healed after much prayers !! so he's a fully healthy boy now, and we can only thank God! :D it was a very celebrative worship today :)

    ---

I'm also making plans to go over to help out in the teaching with the children's home in Cambodia in Dec from 1st dec to 26dec, and then join the Singapore team from 26-30dec to help out and minister in the village province. am praying for the cash to come in, so far my bank account is below 50bucks, but when the gst credits come in , i'll just need a couple more hundred to get the tickets... plus i still have to pay for my braces T_T i havent gone in 2-3 months haha -_- anyways so i'm quite happy that the gst credits is coming in soon.... hopefully everything goes well.. now i have to find my own sources of money but it'll be ok i believe... :)

    +up next week (recess week)+

    mondaymorning - tuesday evening

going to school to draw for 2d animation, 3d lesson at night, 4 of us animators going to have a pizza party while staying over the night to draw in school, then draw till morning, and then, keep drawing. haha. erm in other words, draw draw draw draw draw. i feel like i'm in industrial school haha.

the rest of the recess will be spent in NLB for written assignment 15% and presentation (on Hinduism Art Iconography15%! i feel cheated that the AAH teachers are giving us so many assignments that are allocated so little marks but has so much work to be done! but bo bian, we have no say so just go with the flow. we are trapped in the AAH matrix. and i have to say something, abmitabha, shakyamuni, rotiprata and mutabah. there's too much things to go through for the AAH research! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

then tuitions, and hopefully i can squeeze in a morning to swim (!) for tanning and exercising's sake. haha :D

if there's time i'll upload some of my funky doodles ! hehe. still figuring whether i should use wordpress so that i can have special pages for my work and doodles and etc! but i think that wordpress takes very long to load leh. tug-of-war between the 2!

    Lifter of my head

This is my favourite song! :)

    you can hear it here

Lifter of my head - Mia Fieldes

You make my way bright as the break of day
    Shining ever brighter
Lord let Your light in me be shining ever brighter

Through trails and tears and heartache
i will find a song, reminding my soul
i know that You're near, i've nothing to fear
    You'll always be

Lifter of my head, lifter of my head
i will say O God, You are my God
    Strong when i am weak
    Brave when i am not
    God You are my God

    monday woes!

today my bag and my slipper broke consecutively! T-T

which was not the most convenient because i had alot of research books to carry in my hands and my other smaller bag for my clothes and barang cos i stayed overnight in 2d animation lab T-T

bought a striking yellowgreen "brasil" slipper at nanyang mart after my econs lecture at LKC! if ben wasnt driving it would have been a looooooonnnnnnnng, slipper dragging, bag and books carrying journey! someone even offered to help me because i looked so pathetic. hahah!

neeways..deprived of sleep! animators are crazy ppl! wait, ALL adm students are mad. 4am and there is still life in the adm building and animators in the lab. -.-

hokay, i've a few books on hindu art and another few thick books with the hindu religion to prepare for my presentation and i dont really understand and i dont like the pictures of the idols and figurines in the books at all. T-T when i was young and i have scary book covers i always try to bury them under other books T-T i still do that! and... so many things to learn...and of course...... .... .the long... .names......... *CRY

but it's ok! i will survive because He's always with me! :D

hokay. anyways have been listening to Keith Green's Cd - ministry years vol 1 and ministry years vol 2..it's really great and anointed and true and just plain and raw....

Mia's fieldes new cd "there's a reason" is also a very pleasant surprise, very honest and intimate songs... ben just test listened to it and it was really surprisingly refreshing... if you're interested... the album is very new so it's not up anywhere -.- the following is one of the moderate songs...the slow songs and the entirety of the cd is just great..the lyrics are very simple ...very nice..

    praise reports!

i forgot to mention that last 2 weeks we have sent off 2 missionaries; one who went off to cambodia to serve in the province, Mckenzie(american) , and Carlos(mexican) who went back to minister in India. Saying goodbye is hard, but at the same time knowing that they'll be fulfilling their calling somewhere else and touching many others' lives helps us to rejoice with them.

This week we'll be sending off more ppl T-T most of them who are visiting home in America and coming back here...

    --

Anyways to the point of praise report... Today David (American who grew up in New Orleans) told us about amazing events that happened during the evacuation of the New Orleans people due to the anticipation of Hurrican Gustav.

He said that his parents moved up to an evacuation camp away from New Orleans, and in that place there were 2 families who arrived later. One of the families were involved in the drug dealing business, and the other had undergone a trauma caused by the hurricane- the 6year old girl in the family was thrown out of the car during the hurricane and she witnessed the death of her father who was in the car.... So David's parents ministered to these 2 families who arrived at different times, and behold, both households were saved! how great! God's plans are indeed great and timely...

David and his family will be going back to New Orleans this week to visit their family and coming back in 8 weeks... Also, Steven Nicaud and his family will be going back to America, Louisana i tink.. so prayerfully, they will have a great and blessed time there.. :)

    --

Sylvia (american missionary from New orleans) just came back last week, and it was good to know that her family in New orleans were not affected by Hurricane Gustav. Also glad that Christina's family in New Orleans is safe...

    --

Stephen brewer (another american missionary) had felt a calling to serve in Indonesia after his missionary class with Steven Nicaud.

To cut the long story short, at the same time whereby he had expressed the knowledge of that calling and reported it to Steve Nicaud, Steve Nicaud's contact from a big youth ministry in Jakarta said that in their leader's meeting in Jakarta, they felt the need for specifically an American missionary to aid the youth ministry today. At the same time! So they requested for Stephen to go over by tonight by any means, so that he can attend the leader's conference tomorrow! Stephen said that he had no money to get a ticket by tonight, so they lent him money and he just left service halfway and went home immediately to pack up his suitcase so that he will not miss this divine appointment! He is probably on the flight there now :D

    ---

But God works so miraculously, so suddenly that it is so amazing...

And i salute all these missionaries who would leave everything they had and come here with no money or anything, just as empty vessels to live by faith and in obedience to what Jesus had called us to do....
