A little on the situation in Cambodia before i introduce the kids maybe...
So in Cambodia there are ALOT of orphanages because there are alot of people who just cannot afford to have children. These children at the local orphanages wait to be adopted by loving parents, but sometimes it ends up bad and they get abused also. In the worst cases, the female orphans are sold as prostitutes... Meet the Bykota kids!In Bykota house, the place i worked as an intern, it's a very different story. It's a Christian children's home that is not an orphanage or an institution, but is based on the God-given model of a family. So these precious children, several with physical challenges, are bought from the local orphanages and they belong to a family together under the care of Mark and Rhonda (my hosts) . Personally, Mark and Rhonda from America have 5 biological kids and 5 adopted Cambodian kids, and 16 other kids in the Bykota house. Well that's a pretty big family we must say :D i do take my hats off them as Cambodia is not the easiest place to live in... little Thomas ..he cracked his head when he was young...but he still always has a lovely smile on his face :) David- he's not a Bykota kid but he comes for English classes with us :) Bopha ! hyperactive lady heh Little Bee - little naughty boy: the only good english he can speak is "can i play computer?" and "can i go outside and play?" . haha. but he is adorable.. Chatreah ! a very sweet lady :) Little Tina :) little tina is paralysed but she always smiles radiantly :) For more information pls visit www.hightowerministries.net |
