"Not that I have already
obtained all this,
or have already been
made perfect, but I press
on to take hold of that for
which Christ Jesus
took hold of me.
Brothers, I do not
consider myself yet
to have taken hold
of it. But one thing
I do: Forgetting what
is behind and straining
toward what is ahead,
I press on toward the
goal to win the prize
for which God has called
me heavenward in
Christ Jesus.

A little on the situation in Cambodia before i introduce the kids maybe...

    • half the population are under the age of 15
    • It has the highest child mortality rate in Asia
    • Over 12% of Cambodian children die before they reach 5 years old
    • Highest HIV/AIDS infection rate in Asia
    • illiteracy rate 37%
    • life expectancy 56 years

So in Cambodia there are ALOT of orphanages because there are alot of people who just cannot afford to have children. These children at the local orphanages wait to be adopted by loving parents, but sometimes it ends up bad and they get abused also. In the worst cases, the female orphans are sold as prostitutes...

In Bykota house, the place i worked as an intern, it's a very different story. It's a Christian children's home that is not an orphanage or an institution, but is based on the God-given model of a family. So these precious children, several with physical challenges, are bought from the local orphanages and they belong to a family together under the care of Mark and Rhonda (my hosts) . Personally, Mark and Rhonda from America have 5 biological kids and 5 adopted Cambodian kids, and 16 other kids in the Bykota house. Well that's a pretty big family we must say :D i do take my hats off them as Cambodia is not the easiest place to live in...
