Chewing on the Word

Ben and i were doing our bible study yesterday over dinner and i was just asking God to teach us His Word and as i was doing that, i was enjoying the delicious pasta that Ben and i had prepared and i was enjoying it so much as i bit into each mouth of pasta, chewed on it and savored it. So good!!!

Then i realise that God was speaking the same thing to me as i was pondering about His Word - don't just swallow and get over and done with it... taste it, chew it and savor it! How sweet, liberating and alive His word is :)

"Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!" Ps 34:8

Bought this nifty little gadget on impulse at Watson's one day and i finally got down to using it yesterday. And it works awesome! One day on the 'deep pore cleansing' mode and i can really feel my skin getting softer and smoother hehehe! I definitely like it, but won't be using it everyday because the cleansing pads are rather expensive(~11 bucks for 1 month's supply), but it really feels AWESOME! :D

Honestly the past months and weeks have been awful; some very odd and extreme changes - resulting in a few weeks of stress ulcers and just really weird stuff happening internally..and alot of weight loss -.-

i don't know why but somehow we are conditioned to think that life is hard, and we are supposed to go through(alone) hardship to hone us and make us better. These few weeks had been so full of heartaches and i was just so tired - only this morning on the way to work i decided to talk to God about it openly; and He just said "it's ok, give Me your heartaches, I'll take it for you, just trust in Me.."

Why do we strive alone?

I am still interning as a production intern, very proud to be working under the team on the Clone Wars animation series, at Lucas - the 12 week internship got extended for one more month till 27 Aug, and school will start the following monday :D

very happy to have finished all the cumbersome school reports :D

For those of you that don't know...i was very blessed to be able to go to Lucasfilm for an internship.

So far it's very awesome! we got to see alot of cool behind-the-scenes stuff and meet interesting and very talented ppl! Super awesome!

and no, i'm not animating... i'm currently working on the production team now, so there's no animating involved ( so sad !).

i'm tired. it's actually considered my first weekend after school submissions...

Today.. i'm just thinking... how much i'm thankful.. how i can be more thankful and let my whole life be a dedication to Him. Work has been so time-consuming and i have been more than compromising my time with Him. Lord i am not less a hypocrite than others, i am not putting You supremely first in my life, i don't know how to love like You do; but Lord i love You and i am not letting go of You.. Draw me close and use me dear Lord.

Got (reluctantly) dragged out of my house (from my work) by Ben! i dont usually go out and i hardly shop much cos i'm at home or in school!! :D

anyways, enjoyed a really nice lunch at Marche at 313. havent been there in years! but this branch has really great service and food. was a very pleasant and relaxing lunch!

accompanied Ben for some shopping, then watched Goemon at Cathay, then i get my shop time! :D

erm......there's some mad sales going on in Plaza sing... like lots of ppl in Mphosis cos there's a 70% discount or smtg like that... discount.. i like!! :D but ....... i hate queues and waiting so i left after a short while!

i love sales and i hate clothes that cost more than $20 because it is a WASTE of good money!

anyways i went to outfitters and thought there was a sales for everything in the shop... -.- so turned out that nothing i bought was really on sale -..- fainted! so i paid like $90 for 2 pieces of clothes! T^T i am going to wear those clothes everyday man. T^T shopping is not therapy, it is tragic - disaster!

so i went for a very sad dinner after that.. :( and Ben and i tried out for this random lucky draw thing at Yoshinoya. We've been very quirky in the recent years and somehow we always naively think that we stand a chance to win something everytime. hahaha. Anyways! before we went home we went to Daiso! i love Daiso! but i am a victim of Daiso's cheap prices and awesome things! so before long i had like a handful of stuff..becos ..

I am starting to appreciate graphic novels and all the work that goes into making one! planning, layout, drawing, inking, planning colors and then coloring itself. A LOT OF WORK!

Yesterday was one of the really bad days for worship planning... There's a special guest coming, churchmates i know who are going through much tough times, and i was totally stoned out from work and insomia... so a million things are shaping what songs i wanted to sing. Of course no set of songs made sense and nothing felt right, and i just had to give up planning totally because it will be meaningless even if i had a great set of perfectly synced songs in my mind now, even though it was 1am and worship prac was 9am in the morning..

What was happening was that nothing moved me; there was no affection for Christ or the things of Christ. I just felt that my heart had gone cold, which made sense, because if my heart is right, any song choice would make sense because the heart, mind and soul will be praising in perfect joy and humility, rejoicing in the fullness and life that comes from Christ alone, from any lyric and any song. It was very scary and depressing..

Jn 5:39-40
'You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.'

It is possible that we can read the Word, do churchy things and totally miss the whole point of our faith.... that Jesus is our Savior and there is no other way beside Him. Reading the word, singing songs, doing things for the sake of eternal life, duty, commitment and responsibility without Christ is pointless and dead..

So the response of the night, putting all the church stuff aside, was to come before God and plead for a heart that pleads and longs for Him again...

In the morning, when i woke up to plan the worship, it was smoother .. the focus was now on God - and being aware of my wanderous heart that tends to leave my Lord -, and just loving Him, and desiring Him...

There's still so much more hardness that had developed over time, duties and commitments, and i pray God will constantly renew my love for Him..

Drawing -The French academic way!

It's been a week plus after the exams and deadlines, but a few of us attended( the other few -me- crashed) a 5 day intensive workshop on a classical drawing :D IT WAS SIMPLY AWESOME.

it's just very rigorous and intensive, but it was really good. we draw for 9 to 430 straight with lunch in between, so by the time we're done we are usually dead beat - it's just really bad for the whole body and eyes. After the first day i couldn't move my right shoulder! My legs and shoulder blades constantly cramp/ get pins and needles.. at the end of the week, my 2 HB pencils were totally used up -.-

Feel like i really learnt alot, and i drew my first real life portrait! It's great that we worked on 1 peice for the entire workshop, though we were made to redraw for 2 days before we were allowed to shade at all..So here's what i got after the week... (p.s it's a full body drawing, but for everyone's sake i cropped it :D )

i dont tink it's awesome, but i'm pleased with it lah, hard work always smells good anyways :)

it's been a busy semester, will try to upload some stuff after i really rest :)

God has been so kind and faithful..

Personally He has been teaching me to trust His good and perfect will.. to be sure of His goodness even if i don't understand His plans for me, in essence just to walk with Him day by day and enjoy this walk.. :)

Steve Nicaud preached on our overnight prayer meeting service last week, about gifts of the Spirit, followed by impartation of gifts of prophecy, knowledge and wisdom, and we were sure that God's Spirit was moving in our presence, in a tangible manner! After the preaching and impartation, he made us pair up with a person we don't know very well and ask God for a vision for that person..and people were just doing it, praise God! :) It's very encouraging to see fellow christians moving in the gifts of the Spirit, it encourages the person who is prophecying and the person who is being prophecied to too :)

It's so exciting!

Paul also has plans to make us go out to the streets of the neighborhood randomly to ask ppl if they want to be prayed for.. this is more scary than going to blk 26! hahaha, but we'll just trust God and humbly ask for Him to use us as His mouth, hands and feet to the people who need him...

it's really really amazing how God works...

Ben's friend suddenly called him one day to ask him to share his songs and his faith journey with the youths from his church, and we went there on Sunday to share. Haha, the youths and the pastor were very nice, and they said they were encouraged by the songs and his testimonies and message, so really thank God! We never imagined God to use his songs in such a way.. It's just too amazing and unimaginable.. It was rather awkward seeing Ben surrounded by many youths tho :p

We are currently making plans ( a team of 6, including Paul, Ben and I) to go to China this december! it's very exciting! Other than that the other 3 will be teaching pronounciation in a deaf/mute school while Ben and i will be teaching English at a local hostel...Ministry and prayer will be in Chinese, so we are trying to get used to it by meeting once a month to pray together in Chinese...Coincidentally my mama has a english-chinese dictionary at home :)

There are many many more exciting things! like weekly healing services for cancer/diabetic patients with a clinic.....God is just so good, and the way He moves is just too amazing..

Read through Esther and Job today, and learnt alot!!!! I was pretty amazed at what i read in Job, especially chapters 38-41, when God replies Job. The chapters before that were rather long and dreary to me T-T

Anways, it was so good! It really opened my eyes to see how great and incomprehensible God is! ( the song 'Indescribable' was taken from Job 38? ) it's super duper cool! go read it, i'm sure you'll be blown AWAY!

Yes i am really blown away by everything in the 3 chapters. I just kinda think that animals are free to roam anywhere, nature just acts when it does... but God truly is the Creator of everything and He is in control of every single single of His creation!

Went to Blk 26 on Friday, Stephen left me and Ben to go knocking on doors by ourselves for a while, and we felt quite lost! So we prayed and just went around. I think when it's just the 2 of us we feel quite alone.

Anyways, we knocked on this lady's door, as it was opened anyways, but she was very wary of who we were. She explained to us that she's become more skeptical to visitors because of the scams lately whereby people pretend to be volunteers to old people and when the old people invite them in, they rob the people! Because of that, we were happy to just stand at the gate to make her feel more comfortable, she wasn't open at first, but we offered her some fruits and were prepared to leave (because we weren't very welcomed haha), when she decided to just chat with us! HALLELUJAH!

While we were chatting , she was telling us that she's already a buddhist, because her whole family is buddhist, so she wasn't that opened to christianity..and i just shared with her how my mama was a buddhist and she became a christian after my dad tried to commit suicide, and survived a few years ago. My dad is schizophrenic and suffers from a really bad skin disease, and he has tried committing suicide many times since i was born. So i shared with her the testimony of my family, which i do not usually say , because i'm just not comfortable.

With this i remember how much the devil tries to lie to us and restrain us from the testimonies that God has given each of us, by lying to us that it is too embarrassing or shameful to share the bad stuff that we go through, as if God hasn't saved us from it! However, we should never hide it, the worst our situation, the more glorious God is when He overcomes!

And surely, as that lady began to listen to my testimony, she was interested to know more...and she was opened to us praying for her to get a job, and for her health...

Don't be ashamed of the testimony that God has given to us, and don't let the devil take it away....

Pimple Woes

Recently i had a giant pimple on my hand! and i tot that it will go away in a while, but it slowly started swelling up and before i knew it it's SO big and huge and painful T-T.

See! quite bad hor!

Anyways went to see the doc early in the morning today. Doc says that it is really a pimple, but then infection has set in so it became swollen, and because bacteria spreads very fast, it can even double its size in a while!

Usually when we have pimples we wait for it to heal and dry up by itself, but she advises that we put anti-bacteria or antiseptic cream to protect it. It's best to put antiseptic, then a plaster so that the pimple absorbs the cream.

So the infection got so bad now i have to take oral medication cause applying the cream is not going to work. T-T

Best Steak Marinade in Existence (click on link)

This is really the best we have so far! Very easy and delicious! Didn't bother blending everything together, just mixed it. We love worchestershire sauce!!!!

and lastly, chinese food! used to cook for the family when i was really young cos my mama had to work but havent cooked it for sometime!but it turned out well! Muahahaha!

The key to Chinese food is always to cook the garlic/ginger/onion until they are brown and fragrant! :D i learnt from my mama to use only soya sauce and pepper for seasoning and everything always tastes so GOOD!

Xiaobacai:
Oil, garlic, ikan bili, vegetable, soyasauce to taste. Cook in sequence of ingredients. High heat.

Ginger sliced pork with mushroom:
Oil, ginger (the more the better). Fry (high heat) until ginger is golden. Add sliced Chinese mushrooms (soaked) until they harden and shrink abit, then add in pork, fry, soyasauce and darksauce to taste, add water, simmer.

Mapo tofu: the easiest! It's like a fun, stabbing dish.
Oil, garlic. Add in minced meat marinated with soya sauce and pepper. Add block of tofu, stab into smaller pieces and stir fry at the same time. Don't make the tofu too mushy as water has to be added later. Season with soyasauce and pepper, add water. Simmer until the dish becomes abit drier, and serve!

woke up early to catch the solar eclipse on TV with my mama. Anyways, it was really awesome and amazing! the backgrounds in the TV just turned dark suddenly! It reminded me of how great God is.. and also how at the command of His word, the very possibility of darkness overshadowing the Earth (in the end times) is totally possible. Immediately i ran and hid under my blanket, awestruck and some sort fearful, but at the same time amazed, recalling that i am indeed fearfully and wonderfully made!

God magnifies His glory in and through His creation, and i was so in awe at His glory today! but I tink it's quite sad how in the end people turned to worship the sun, or worshipped their own gods like how the Indians were chanting and praying to their own gods beneath the sky..

Oh! and to add to the exciting couple things that we are currently doing, i cut Ben's hair today! :D I cut my niece's hair yesterday..so we decided to cut his hair today, planning to drive to get a crew cut if i fail my mission ;) quite cool hor! anyways, it turned out ok, and we both are happy after the cut! though cleaning a bathroom filled with hair wasnt fun! YAY! we should always do exciting, unforgettable things occasionally! hehehe! and it turned out to be a money saver! double YAY!

Tuesday:

We decided to go swim today! then after that we attempted to go to the food court at E2 to try the HungryJacks place which was featured on 8days. ermmm... it was ok only lah! haha. i feel abit cheated.

left to check out some books at 'Baptist Books' , located between United Square and Novena Square, along the tour agencies and the pubs. Pretty good selection of books :D and there was a sale! YAY! hahha. i bought nothing cos i was on a budget tho.

after that, back to babysitting and resting our tired and unfit bodies, then off to the talk on Dinosaurs and the Gospel by Mr David Prentice at Jericho! Was happy that there were quite a few visitors! WOH! i tell you, the talk was pretty mind blowing! it was very scientific...alot of terms that i cannot and will not be able to memorise -.- but in general he debunks many myths and hypothesis of scientists..there are mainly 2 groups of dinosaurs, differentiated by the pelvic bone structure, though many giant reptiles which were mistaken as dinosaurs. and he also showed that through his archaelogical finds all over the world and also records of paintings in history there were indeed such animals. And he gives clear, biblical and scientific explanations..

some interesting facts:

- Even in recent history, and currently, there are evidences of giant, massive reptiles in the deep forests of such as that in Zimbabwe.

- he had found bones of 34000 dinosaurs all in a meandering pattern, in river deposits in China, implying that they were likely washed off (and drowned) in a river, pointing to the existence of a world wide flood.

- the DNA of the human gene is only getting more damaged over the centuries, and it could probably just last a few more centuries. But in the beginning, God had made Adam with that perfect DNA , which was able to continue this lineage until now...

- in the book of Job there were mentions of 2 specific creatures - Behemoth and Leviathan.

And he told us how God was telling Job of how great He was. And after this, Job finally came to his senses, and stopped blaming God and repented and recognised God as He was.

- contrary to popular belief and what the media has portrayed, the T-rex is actually not a giant, carnivorous animals that chases its prey quickly (like in Jurassic park). Given its size and bone structure, the fastest it can run is approximately on 20km/hr (!) and even though the teeth of the T-rex is long, half of it was covered in its gum, so it would be unlikely that the T-rex ate giant animals. It is predicted that it likely eats very small animals or is a savage hunter. Heh!

- When God commanded Noah to bring a pair of each species of animals, it was possible for dinosaurs to be there because a baby dinosaur hatched from its egg is about the size of a chicken.

oh there are so much more things! also about fossil layers! and i could just go on and on!!!

His conclusion was very simple, and he concluded with the Gospel... how the magnificent God could make every bit of the Earth and the galaxies, and at the same time make that dna that runs in our bodies... And yet He loves us and offers us His Son so that He can redeem us..

Talked to him abit while he was preparing to leave- He will be returning to U.S to teach Physics and Chemistry- but not Creationism because it is forbidden to talk about God in school, and he talks about the ironic fact that the people in China gladly welcomed him to talk about Creationism...

Ben had the car for these 3 days, so instead of staying at home the whole time babysitting, we actually moved our asses hehehe!

Monday:

went to Iluma, the new mall at Bugis. I really liked it! A lot of walking space, not crowded like the malls nowadays. And it's mainly catered to 20- 30s ...that's me! haha. Personally i tink it's quite an otaku ( something like japanese addict) place, but i liked the rest of it ;)

Lunch at a noodle place, pretty nice....taste like you mian in wanton soup with fried chicken cutlet :)

We've been trying to be more exciting as a couple and do some crazy things! So when we grow up we will remember.

we always laugh at boyfriends that try to catch soft toys for their girlfriends cos it's always in comics! heh. anyways we decided to try it. so Ben was supposed to get 1 for me! but he failed, and instead i caught it myself. HA HA HA. I screamed and jumped around to celebrate! i used 2 turns only ;) Ben gave up after his 2 turns. :D

We caught a 3d show about the underwater world! $5 for a 5-8 min show?(alot cheaper than sentosa!) it was really pretty awesome, there were only the 2 of us in the station, so we could just say and react however we wanted. sometimes the shark came to eat us, i was irritated! but it was great FUN!

and then we ate ice cream at Marbleslab creamery. I didnt really like that they refused to give me the kids size cos 'you couldnt taste it well because it's too little an amount'. So i was grumpy! Anyways, as i expected of an American brand, it's too sweet for me -..- but i did tink that the quantity was quite value-for-money , but errm it's really too sweet! they should invent Asian ice cream!

Wanted to go Tecman to get some books but the Bugis roads are really tricky and ERP-fested.
( it was a one way road so if you u-turn and then you pay ERP again! RIDICULOUS! ) so we figured that we should just head home. and i being the homie is EXTREMELY tired after walking ard for such a long time haha.

was taking a nap the same day with my niece when Ben suddenly told me that he has an exciting plan! (cos we hadnt plan anything for dinner) so randomly he wanted to go to that giant Ikea! -.- so i also excitingly followed loh, not everyday that we are so excited, we're usually nua.

Anyways, i found out that kids stuff is very cheap in Ikea! (maybe becos there was a sale? i donno) i bought 5 bibs which cost $3.50, 3 good quality kid bowls for 4.90. quite cheap! :D and i also bought for myself a swivel chair -.- $39! i very happy, now i finally have a chair with a backing! There's relief for my aching back! :D

Was a fun day! come to tink of it, i hadnt had such an enjoyable day since the holiday and i am very thankful for it! :D and of cos the company makes all the difference :)

Today we had a great time of worship - something happened which never happened before : someone got touched by the Holy Spirit and fell during worship itself ! hmm, we were shocked but we continued playing and praising God. The sweet, gentle yet powerful Spirit. Things are never the same, and i believe and pray that it will never be the same...

Seek and desire for God's presence.

We are expecting more things to come :)

Creationism Vs evolution

Today we were privileged to have David Prentice to give us a clear exposition of creationism, evolution, and the Bible. Very interesting facts .. Of course we all know that evolution is just a hypothesis, but Mr David made very clear his arguments, with strong biblical foundation and scientific facts . He has 2 master degrees, and is a certified professor in Chemistry, Physics, biology and so on, i can't even remember the list -.-

Some interesting facts.. just a small glimpse of what i learnt:

-The presence of seashells, and the fossil layers, even at the top of the highest mountains in our world, Everest and Andes, is evidence of the world wide flood that God had revealed in Genesis.

-the elements found in a human's body are all the elements found in earth, because man were made from dust of the earth.

-God took a rib bone from Adam's body to create Eve, and man didnt lose that rib bone, but amazingly, the rib bone is the only bone in the human's body that can regrow.

- He also gave a detailed analysis of fossil layers, and it is a lie that it takes millions of years to make fossil layers - lab experiments show organic matter being fossilized in a matter of just 5- 20 years, which are universally agreed among scientists.

- He also gave a detailed analysis of the ape and man bone structure and its history. painstaking going through each species of apes and monkeys and generations of man - show conclusively that and ape is just and ape and man is man, no evolution involved, but the bones of humans did become smaller and weaker over the years.

Ultimately he reminds us that we are in the end times, and that the deceiver has his plans to deceive many from the Lord, reminding us to hold fast to God's word, and that He is the only one that can save. He also sadly mentions of a high % of Christians leaving the faith (in America) in college because of the introduction of subjects such as evolutionism, and they leave God because they placed their faith in their professors, and what is seen, but not in God.

actually, to me, the most amazing thing about him is that he is a holder of 2 master degrees in science, but he count his status worthless, his knowledge in science worthless, but with faith, placed his trust simply in God's word, using what God has given him, humbly teaching around the world, equipping the Church and bringing the truth to those who are living in darkness.

Don't complain that some literature are hard to read, ask God to reveal ; don't crave for milk when you can get solid food from God. Don't only lean on what you have learnt in the past, ask God for his daily bread, which is new everyday as long as you seek it. Desire to grow, pray, and God will answer, surely. Prayer is one thing we should never give up on.

Hair cut!

Harro! just got back from prayer meeting, just the 5 of us, but it was a good time, and we were encouraged by God's presence - He was there to speak to us and through us... a meeting in God's presence is lifting and encouraging, while a meeting without Him is lifeless and dead.

ooh! me and ben went to Orchard Central today to see see look look - i am quite happy to have the time to go out, dress nicely abit- babysitting at home makes me ah-sohy! Erm, the shopping complex still quite empty, and the escalators are so scary! too high!!! i am afraid of heights so i have to stick to the walls. Wanted to find a foodplace, but in the end, we still felt that eating at s11 in bishan will be more value for money -.- hahaha. so we ate meatball soup at bishan s11. It's very nice!

Yesterday we had dinner with Dan and Kat, it was very nice,they are one of the married couples we really look up to! And thanks to Kat, i now have many dinner dresses!YAY!!!! i am starting to outgrow my 18-20 year old gowns -.- :D

randomly decided to cut my hair so i cut my hair in the afternoon, now i have bangs! i very happy! cut hair by myself= save money! hehehehe

I remember he didn't visit corp much when i was there, but i remembered that one faithful sermon where he said that when our elbow is out of place, God will have to twist it to get it back to where it was!

Went to the Botanical Gardens yesterday. I vaguely remember going there in my primary school days for a band concert, but other than that it was really my first time there! Iit was supposed to be an outing with our new friends from America, but it got cancelled last minute but nonetheless Ben and i decided to go since he had the car for the day! It's both our first times! hahah.

p.s. if you are looking for Botanical Gardens on the street directory and you can't find it, try 'Singapore Botanical Gardens' -.-

Was nice! the greenery makes it very cooling, but we are so out-of-shape that walking so much nearly killed us, and we were too cheapskate to pay $5 to go to the Orchid Garden. heh! But there are just so many different plants, so weird and spunky! God very creative leh!

Made Pecan Pie ( or rather, almonds and walnuts) on friday! pre-made crusts are SO expensive, $8 bucks for 3 pieces! So i made it myself again! i really like the pie crust recipe i have, can make extra and just freeze it until i bake a pie a next time, raw cost for making many pie crust is only prolly less than $2 bucks loh! @%^#^* Neeways, i couldn't find any pecans in NTUC, even the angmo section also dont have! so angry!

trip to blk 26 (II)

We are glad that many people, mostly Chinese are opened for prayer, even though they don't believe. We prayed for a paralysed uncle and his wife who has cancer. The uncle says that there is no hope for his disease, but we will continue to press in and pray. His wife is very nice, she is very opened for prayer and she also thanks God. heh.

Yesterday God opened more doors for us as we knocked door to door and asked the people if there was anything we could pray for.

There was an ah ma we were talking to- it's a disappointment that our hokkien sucks -.- We told her about Jesus, and she asked 'Where can i go to pray to Jesus?' like a character of the bible in the new testament! we tried in our broken hokkien to tell her abit, but next time when we go we will bring a power-packed Hokkien speaking person! Rar!

Another guy was opened to prayer also, he is looking for a job.

There was a door where we knocked on, the guy said he didn't need prayer when we asked... but after he closed his door, he was laughing loudly at us.

It was a fruitful 1.5hrs!

trip to blk 26 (I)

Visited a few people at blk 26 yesterday. We went there in a rush after worship practice , had a heartbreaking conversation with an aunty whom Stephen has been outreaching to for 5 years..

Her husband left her, now she supports a son in her studio apartment. She used to have another son, but he ran away with her money after persuading her to sell her apartment. She is a kidney dialysis patient, and needs to be pushed on a wheelchair to the dialysis centre 3 days a week, and she also has to go for medical visits. Her condition has been worsening - because of the dialysis, she is having heart problems, and she is slowly not feeling her legs anymore. At night, she gets such severe pain in her muscles that she cannot sleep, and her son has to massage her to ease her pain...

She will be going for an operation on her legs but the doctors are not sure of the chances of recovery. Also, there are 2 kidney stones within her body, and the doctors say that she can't be operated on because of her weak heart and immunity system. she says it is easier for her to die, but her son is so young, and she has to take care of him. And as she shares her life and pain, she tears...

What do we do for someone like her, what can we do? We can only give her money and food with what little we can give.. But i deeply believe, no one but Jesus can give her everything she needs, and He can, and is more willing to embrace and tell her, 'I love you and I see you and what you go through everyday. Now, get up and walk, you are healed.' My Jesus can do anything.

Finding good deals and discounts everywhere! Can really save alot of money buying things at the right places at the right time!

Bought hair clips for myself and a different set for my little niece, 1 dozen for just $1 at the pasar malam near my house!! very happy!!

Today we went to Campus Crusade Media library cos there was a 25% sale (closes this tuesday). Quite disappointed cos there wasn't a very good selection of literature. Ben got a newly released CD for only $17 ! hehehe. Decided to go Tecman cos we were unhappy we couldnt get any good books, and found out there was a 30% storewide discount with membership (which costs $3 for students)! weee!! i bought another Tozer book and Ben bought 2 other books ;)

Looking out for warehouse sales -.- right before i went to Cambodia me and Ben went to a Fox warehouse sale! bought tops for $7 or $9, so much cheaper than normal leh! Now we dont really feel like buying clothes at stores le!

on the Cambodia trip

it has been a great trip, too much to say, i'll try to break it down into relevant bits (very long post ahead!):

the Benzs:

the missionary family which i had been working with for 4 years. I cannot thank them enough for their faith and love towards each other and towards others. This time my goal was to serve the family while Mom and Kati are gone ( they have 5 adopted Cambo kids and only the youngest American daughter Danielle was there to help Dad). I think i had been blessed so much more instead.

School in the morning is tiring with all the kids running around and screaming, and we adults will surely need a nap in the afternoon. But they are an adorable buncha kids! They have really loved and pampered me with this trip- i was able to get my own room, we went swimming together... (that's why i am so tanned now! we can spend 5 hrs at the pool -.- ) i love their family so much!

Please continue to keep the whole family in prayer as Dad and Danielle watches over the family and continue their work in Bykota House, a Christian Childrens' home, and Mom who is raising funds in America. And also for Kati who left Cambodia for the time being to pursue her nursing degree so that she can come back to Cambodia to set up a women's clinic for the people of Cambodia.

Things are going great there! Nick and Elaine ( a pair of English missionaries who joined our services in Singapore are working there now).

Other than teaching in school, they have been providing massage therapy for the children who are paralysed, and also taken in their care, Tina, a 7 year old girl who has cerebral palsy. They take Tina home to pray for her healing on Wednesday nights and God is doing a great work in her life! Now she can say 3 words, and she can nudge people to get their attention! It is such so amazing seeing God work in her life!

Nick and Elaine are a great couple who loves God so much! They are willing to go anywhere for God, and they are just so kind and loving. They brought me to visit their church, and brought me out to lunch and visit their friends!

Meeting new missionaries:

Nick and Elaine invited me to their church , but i was hesitant because i had wanted to spend more time with the Benzs. the next day, i received a word through one of my churchmates, Angela, that she saw the word 'Divine appointment' and that i should be prepared to change my plans, and God will direct me in a new way. So i changed my plans lo. hahaha.

Went to Jubilee Family Church and i loved it! They believe so much in the Church, in the gospel, in praying for one another. It reminded me of Church Alive -.- haha. They are also very small!
neeways, before i left, the pastor, Steven ( who is English. His wife is Malaysian) had a word for me. So that was my divine appointment! haha.
it's really a great church! Other than making disciples, they are providing computer training for the locals so that they will be able to find jobs, and other practical means of help for the Cambodians.

Nick and Elaine also brought me to see Randy Flemming. This guy is AWESOME! the work he does is SO extensive - on weekdays and Saturdays he opens up his place for the Cambodians to come in for free food, free music/computer training. He also set up a church in the slums, and together with his co-workers provides free supplements and checkups for pregnant ladies. i had been there my previous trip and it is such a great ministry! They also pray for the people who come and when i was in Cambo, i heard that 2 women and their child accepted Christ after God touched and healed them!

Randy has also brought 2 very ill boys from the province to the city to give them proper food and receive medical treatment and also prayer!

Personally:

God has been so good! i am very blessed to come from a very loving church. I know that everyday someone will be praying for me. When i was in Cambo, God met me in my prayer times and gave me visions for other people and i would receive confirmations from them! what encouragement! God even gave me a vision for Nick and Elaine hehehe!

When i was flying back there was a very bad air turbulence and i was really quite worried. So i prayed and i saw God's hand carrying the plane and immediately i had peace even though there was still really bad turbulence.

God is really very good and loving! I know that through this trip He has opened up more opportunities to serve ( of which i will need wisdom in) and He has strengthened my faith!

Lastly, do continue to keep the above ministries in prayer! ;)

have been baking since i came back - American style! it helps me abit cause i miss Cambodia.. and i eat cookies American size and eat American food sometimes at home with the family i stayed with, the Benzs, in Cambo.

Best, big, fat, chewy cookies was a huge success! beautiful cookie dough. was a tad too sweet even though i halved the brown sugar, sugar and chocolate chips -.- hahah. But it is definitely a keeper!

Oven Fried Chicken was great too. We used chicken breasts instead of the whole chicken. So much healthier and juicier than normal fried chicken!

I also made a grilled cheese toast for me and ben but we finished it before we took any photos! wahahaha.

There are a lot of missionaries living in Cambodia, from America, aussie, canada, new zealand, japan, korea... many have lived here for many years.. It is hard to stay in a foreign, poor country for many years..

anyways, today Dad saw on facebook 2 missionary kids who were feeling down, and he sent me and Danny to go out with them. I am really happy and proud to work with such a loving family..even though there are so many kids at home, Dad was generous enough to let us go out to accompany them.

Has been a tiring day! went for dental early in the mornin and had to wait 6 hours to collect my retainers... anyways i am happy that the braces are gone!first meal after braces was Seoul Garden! was happily chomping on meats, crunchy away on papardums and eating rice!!

dinner at home and spent time with my little niece and mama .. i hope she doesnt forget me when i come back!!

last minute packing before i leave for Cambodia 4.45am for 2 weeks. Going with mixed feelings, honestly - some excitement, joy, uncertainty and worry... keep me in your prayers!

i think 10 years ago, God gave Stephen a vision that from blk 26 there will arise a congregation of worshippers :) So until now, he has been steadfastly and consistently visiting blk 26, caring for the poor, mentally ill and physically handicapped...

Now we join him in the ministry and God is opening many doors for us - sometimes the amount of financial help they need (to take care of bills, daily needs) overwhelms us..but i am really thankful that God has allowed us to build bonds with them and to help them in whatever way we can, and they have also very kindly allowed us to pray blessings over them.. Prayerfully and hopefully these seeds will grow beautifully.

Anyways, i want to talk about a great work that God has done in one of the residents' life! this uncle has been suffering from epileptic fits since he was young. One day during a visit, Paul and Stephen prayed for him, and his epileptic fits started to go away and within months it was completely gone. And because of that this uncle accepted Christ! all glory to God! :) this is the kingdom come :D

Oreo cheese pie was a success!!!

was feeling insecure about it at first, but after freezing, it was heavenly! hahaha

made 3 batches, all gone in 5 days!

Here's the recipe :

i changed the strawberry cheesepie to an oreo one with an oreo crust, folding in crushed oreos into the mixture when it's done.

i dont really fancy non-bake recipes, but this is really good and easy!

I loved Igor! very quirky character designs, as if each little house has a life of its own! Storyline was cute, great directing and compositions and animation was also great! LOOK AT HIM, HE IS JUST SO CUTE LAH. the emo rabbit is very funny also.

Dragonhunters

Storyline was average, but it was simply beautiful. The landscape is mesmerising, and imaginative - made up of a world of floating lands. SIMPLY, SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL , even if the story was not great, the landscape will take your breath away. haha.

The Spirit

Also watched 'the Spirit' , it's not an animation, but the style.... it's like a live graphic novel? The style is very similar to Sin City... i think it's a cool style with cool narration. Maybe abit cheesy sometimes, but i guess it's action humor?haha. The CG and live action were composited very well...

By the way, in the past 2 weeks, me and ben has watched 2 movies, and 4 dvds!

Stop mo final

My final project 'Hunch' , lasted almost 2 months since preproduction to post production. This was the reason why i stayed over in school for the last 3 weeks!

technique: i used pastels, and a draw and erase method. so after i finish drawing frame 1, i brush it off, and draw frame 2 over it. this leaves traces of the previous frames on the paper la. of course the limitations (i learnt) is that i cannot have to complicated colors, and too many frames, if not the paper will start tearing as i erase and the paper will not take in the pastels well. and it also means i cannot make any mistakes! cos i will have to restart. i actually felt that this was like a 4d project haha.

the work table. there is a box to contain my pastel erasings. i seriously think that if i continued doing this project i would die from the inhalation of chalk particles. I sneezed like crazy on my first few days of starting work. that's my F&N drinks, penknife to sharpen the chalk ( it is a disgusting thing to do!) and lightbox. it's messy!

Compositing final

This is a still shot from my digital compositing final project -.- the whole file was 7.7 GB! hahaha the (very slow) mac in school says transfer will take 3 hours. am quite happy with the final result la.

Exposing trade secrets - the cityscape is a still image, background is a ramp with 2 colors, with animated clouds, crane is handdrawn via photoshop, flame is visual effect,rooftop is still photo and i was green-screened. lights added via the programme. done in Shake software.

The time consuming part was color correction, tracking movements, and ALOT OF DETAILS! but i love my prof! he is DAM ZAI!

COMPLAIN TIME!

This was an assignment for one of our modules: stopmotion animation - papercut animation this sem, (just) 3weeks to complete including preproduction (planning, storyboarding), production (animating) and post-production (compiling, editing, sound). that's a brief look at the number of photos i took! lighting, animating do finish le back always so pain cos i have to bend and take photo, then arrange all the paper bit by bit, make sure things are in place, REDO if anything went out of place. so now i am really quite sick of taking photos haha. somemore have to REDO. -.-

i wanted to eat pumpkin pie so bad and it's hard to find in Singapore, so i baked it myself. hahaha. I ate this in Cambodia but it's American la. haha.

It was supposed to be in a pie tray ( which is alot more deep), but i tink that it'll cook better, easier to serve and i dont have to eat so much per serving (since it's more shallow), so i bought a tart tray instead. i guess it'll be good for desserts? haha. quite cheap, i bought a 26/28cm non-stick teflon tart tray at NTUC for $5.50 only..

After baking, cool, chill, then all done! supposed to serve with whipped cream haha.

BADASS MOVIES

Caught two badass movies recently :

XMEN: WOLVERINE was awesomely awesome. Ingenious details, badass visual effects and compositing ( i was doing a compositing breakdown throughout the whole movie) , great directing- perspectives, depth! , and of course great acting! Hugh jackman was incredible and i thought gambit was quite close to the original! except that he looks a wee bit like willy wonka. lols. but it was so badass! all the way from the start to the end we were glued to our seats!

Fast and Furious:

i thought the front was abit slow, but other than that the action was awesome! very smart and creative stunts, and i loved the tunnel sequence!!!

days in school: evolution of the locker

for the last 3 weeks of school, i stayed over and worked the nights ; was barely back home for tuitions and church for those weeks.

this is wat my locker became!!! at first it was a resting place for my stuff, then it started to become a camping/shower locker! HA HA HA.

baked roast chicken today with ben's 'help' hahaha. he was the shaker for my pepper and onion powder and he cut the celery. first try, but went rather well! WAKAKAKA.. !
recipe is here if any of you are interested! it's really juicy! but should cut down abit on the salt and butter.. should boil potatoes and carrots first!

errr... some time ago.... one or two? i baked cinnamon rolls for church potluck! it was well-received haha!!! the recipe is here. i used a different recipe for the icing- alot easier and more affordable!

in U.S size, this recipe serves 12, but i made around 40 mini ones. HA HA HA.

the church split into 4 teams of 3 or 4 people, chipped in $5 each, headed to the market to get some groceries- bread, noodle, canned food (which we divided in 3 portions). And we were off to blk 26 again!

While the other groups headed to other houses, our group followed up on one of the aunties which God led us to in our previous trip there... She lives alone, earns $100 a month. Despite that, she is a very cheerful aunty and speaks Chinese/ Cantonese. It is good to know that she is doing well, and she was happy to have company in her house, and we were glad to speak with her :) When we asked her if we could pray a prayer of blessing for her, she said ok, so we prayed for her in chinese :) Even though she does not know Christ yet, we know that God is definitely planting seeds in her heart and prayerfully and hopefully it will grow beautifully :)

The next house we visited was a Muslim family which consists of a very young couple, 2 little kids and a grandma- all in a one room flat. They were not open for prayer last time when we went, and this time too, but we were happy to just bless them with practical foods that they can use to feed the family. Prayerfully, God will surely path a way for us and them :)

Today God opened a new door for us!!! We had one more portion of provisions, so we randomly knocked on doors, and after a few doors, this uncle opened up his house to us. He does not have a job at all.. we were happy that God opened up this new door, and that we will be able to minister to him more :)

We were glad to hear great reports from the other 2 groups too! David/Stephen's group were able to pray for 7 ppl (muslims, hindus) , Kewei's group was able to speak with 3 new families which we did not have contact with..and when we were meeting for debrief, Janet's group was still talking with the families, so we are sure that God is doing a great work there too!!!
